Very interesting study and VERY applicable to our pet parrots! It deals with the avian capacity to sleep with only half of the brain and regularly open one eye (this is where the 'peeking' term comes from) to check surroundings for danger and it found that birds are disturbed by human noises (they peek longer) and that they 'peek' less often when they have a lot of birds around them. Translate this into our birds sleeping while we watch TV and you get a bird that is not getting much quality sleep!
