Hi:) I'm new to the forum and parrot ownership:D we are going to pick up our new bundle of joy tomorow and I read somewhere that it is comforting to a new parrot to offer a warm meal before the first sleep in their new home something like oatmeal or cream of wheat?? Has anyone heard of this??? Does anyone have any yummy recipes???
Congrats on your new baby! You will need to post pictures.
I have heard the same thing - that warm mushy food is like home for a bird.
I haven't tried oatmeal or cream of wheat (but they sound like they'd be fine) but my bird loves warm quinoa, brown rice and egg white. As a meal I'll mix egg white, quinoa or rice, broccoli, carrot and parsley together and he gobbles it up.
Here's a recipe I made up that he absolutly loves!!! I put brown rice, oatmeal, a 7 bean mix, cooked sweet potato, fresh mango, apple, and blueberries. I make a big batch and then freeze it flattened in large ziplocs and just break a chunk off and heat it up when I want:)
