Noodle is younger than Kili. I got her early this spring and they said she was 15 weeks old. She has not had her first molt yet.
I started out cracking them for her at first so she'd know what was in there. Then I moved on to not cracking them. She loves them!
When they start selling nuts for christmas (the best time to buy them because they're cheap) I buy a bunch and then freeze them so they don't go bad.

I give them egg...scrambled or microwaved omelet style. Or hard or soft boiled.
Once in a while. They seem to enjoy it. I normally cook it with the shell broken up so they get extra calcium.

My amazon and grey both LOVE scrambled eggs. It's one of their favorite treats but yes, it should be fed very minimally. I scramble the eggs with the shell, as the shell contains calcium. Hope this helps!

I think the reason all birds love eating eggs so much is because they are the ideal bird food. A lot of protein and everything an embryo needs to grow and develop. Remember that the chicken eggs you buy in the supermarket are not a baby bird but more like milk, the food to feed the baby bird had humans not intervened and prevented there being a baby.

I just wanted to tell MissLady that I got Kili to eat almonds on her own too! I never thought of it cause I thought the shell was just too thick and strong for a little Senegal but boy was I wrong. I taught Kili to associate the inside but with the shell by pre-cracking it part way and breaking a hole in it so she could see the nut. At first she would chew off pieces of shell little by little and eat bits of nuts as she went along (picture eating ice cream from a cone and spitting the cone pieces back out). But after only a couple of times of doing this she learned to be really efficient. She breaks the shell in half and discards it solely holding onto the remaining nut. Today I hid an almond in one of her toys and it took her no time at all to find it. As I left the nut in her cage I did not get to see her eat it but I discovered to halves of an almond shell and no trace of almond in her poop pan. I'm sure she happily devoured the whole thing with no help from me.

Horray! I'm glad Kili found the joy of almonds! (lame I know )
I give Noodle whole walnuts too but I have to crack the shells for her because it's a little big for her tiny face.
It keeps her occupied for about a min or two!

I use eggs more when my birds are moulting, and breeding. Other than that, they only get a small amount to share every few weeks. I usually boil and mash them and mix it with sprouted seed, but i like the idea of scrambling them with other vegetables. I imagine that just like humans, they enjoy having different food combinations rather than the same old things time after time. Ill be trying this one tomorrow!
parrots arent mere ornaments, and they're hardly "just a pet" they are intelligent and emotional creatures who want our companionship. As a bird owner, its a pleasure to make my parrots lives as happy, enriched and healthy as possible

Mine love eggs. Yes with the shells on them. Depending on wich neighbor or family member has extra eggs they get lots of extra shells. Naturally they get washed very well. Then nuked in the microwave for a bit. Then mashed and grinded. I mix it with veggies, or last week it was pumpkin. Nut sure what this week it will be. Probably carrot. Sometimes we put chicken in with the eggs.
