I dont know if my bird is sick or not, but lately he has been really under the weather. He is a parrotlet, and when his "sickness" started to take place i found him on the bottom of his cage laying there panthing. I placed him in his Traveling cage with a heating lamp on top in a really warm room. 4 hours later he was fine. It was about 4 days later the same thing happened again but he went back to normal in 2 hours. Since last saturday its been happening everyday, but every morning hes fine again then when its 12 he becomes sick again. I dont know what to do, i want to take him to an avian vet but i have no money to do that, im only a teenager. Is there anything i could do to help him ? And do you know how much it would cost to take him to a vet in canada ?
Sounds like you already know the best thing you can do it take your bird to a vet. To give you an idea, a checkup at my avian vet in Guelph, ON runs about $95. It will be more costly if tests are need to diagnose the problem and for treatment.
Where abouts are you located in Canada? We can help you find an avian vet in your area.

Thanks guys ! He's going to the vet tommorow and for only $48. But he doesnt like like he is doing so well, hes in his traveling cage lying on a small towel. I hope he's okay !
Keep him in a warm, dark quiet place and try to encourage him to eat and drink, honey water dribbled into his mouth might work but not too fast, you don't want him to aspirate any. Any bird that lies on the floor and doesn't want to perch is classed as critically ill I'm afraid. You're doing the right thing getting him to an avian vet. Good luck!!!
Birds are experts at hiding illness. If you see signs of anything, most of the time you're too late. So if you see anything that is not the way its suppose to be, call a vet. Always.
