Kili Making Bubbling Sound, Should I be alarmed?

I wonder if Poicephalus are "in season" this time of year instead of the standard spring time?

It just pissed me off to pay $75 for him to conclude the same thing I did using the same exact methods! If he at least did something different or whatever. He didn't even run any tests cause she appears totally healthy... Oh well, at least I will get a good night's sleep tonight.

It's $75 for ease of mind the way I see it.
It might have been the same thing you did, but maybe he could have spotted something you did not in the end. Of course, this time he didn't, but I still wouldn't consider this $75 "wasted".

I've also gone to the vet on a couple of occasions with some doubts in my mind but having the vet check the same thing as I did and be ultimately fine. Never considered it as a useless expenditure since it did provide an expert opinion and eased my conscience.

I've often heard that now is Poicephalus breeding time and considering Petey being a lot more hormonal lately, I have no trouble believing it. It was the same thing last year at this time as well.

There's absolutely no point taking your bird to a non-specialised vet. I am retraining as an avian vet after being a journalist for many years. And I can tell you that even the less experienced bird breeders have more of a clue about bird illnesses than non-avian vets.

My cockatiel was showing a similar behavior not long ago. I don't think there's anything wrong with Kili, but if you want complete peace of mind you should find her a good avian vet and take her there once a year for a complete check up.

My bird was diagnosed with chlamydia after two different non-specialised vets said she was healthy. But even as a novice I could tell she wasn't.

ok was she producing anything? Or would it get worse after drinking? And does she do it around anyone else? or only when you two are alone? If she does it and then stops and wont do it in front of "intruders" my guess is she is telling you something. By the way i cant remember if memory serves me right Kili hasnt been determined to be a boy or a girl right? Another part of the picture here is how old is she? There are just too many peices of the puzzle.

I'm bringing this topic back cause I got a good video of Kili's weird behavior. I think it changed a little bit and went from more of a bubbling sound to a squeek/honk kind of sound but the shaking and tail bobbing has remained the same. She does this a lot. I don't give her attention or reward her for it but it's getting on my nerves when she is sitting on my shoulder and honking loudly in my ear. Anyone observe this kind of behavior in a Senegal Parrot?

Behaviors that are reinforced, tend to happen more frequently.

She's probably clicking in this video.

Looks to me like she wants to mate with you.
Her wings are out slighty and a little drooped.
Pinning of the eyes.
Noodle doesn't click like that but she makes a funny woot noise when she does that.
Aside from the noise being different that's what noodle does when she's "in the mood"

I have never reinforced Kili for doing this. When she starts making the noise I usually ignore her or throw her away but she keeps coming back, sits on my shoulder, and makes the noise in my ear. It is not triggered by clicking the clicker and is rarely in the same context. Normally she is focused on training during training but makes these noises when we are relaxed together. She does not make these noises in conjunction with her other normal vocalizations. Also her tail bobs up and down when she makes the sound and she shakes. Her beak is usually full of liquid at the same time. This is the newer version of bubbling I originally mentioned. Furthermore, what is weird is she continues doing this during moments of slight discomfort even. For instance I was filing her beak yesterday and she continued making the noises and shaking every time she made one while I had her grasped in my hand to file. Parrot's don't "vocalize" when they are in a pressured situation.

I once had a parakeet that did a sneezing noise from it's nose and not the beak

we lived pretty high up but it's Torrance, California so a lot of the times dust tends to come up when it's dry around 2pm-4pm in midsummer so a lot of us sneezed when we were in the patio or balcony

my parakeet got used to this for a couple of years and started to imitate the noise; when we first heard it we were worried but after someone sneezed she made the same noise a few times which was when we realized she was just being adorable

it sounds like a clicker to me you should try and see if she wants to hear it or
maybe just pay closer attention to when Kili does it?
