new feathers?

Postby rebeccaturpeinen » Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:16 am

my little Joey was at a bird sitter for about a month and it looks like it stressed him out a bit... he has clearly been plucking his feathers. he isnt doing it that much any more now that he is home again but i have a question... how often do parakeets get new feathers? i would like to see his feathers improve so i know for sure he isnt plucking anymore.

he seems to be happy to be home,, that is good :)

Normally, feathers will grow back in 3 to 6 weeks.
If he has been doing it very thouroughly (how do you spell that?) it can take up to 3 months.
