Don't forget, checking weight is the most effective way to track fluctuations in well being. In a sick bird the weight may take a noticeable drop before plumpness is reduced. By weighing a parrot regularly you can be much sooner aware of an issue than by looking at it. But in order to know if in the long run your parrot is at a healthy weight, plumpness is the best measure. Then remember the weight it's at with that look and get familiar with normal daily fluctuations. Then if you see a loss of 10% in a short time, you know that something is wrong and can get to a vet in time.

Your Gentoo photos are absolutely amazing!!! I can't wait to go visit Antarctica one day. The penguins I research (yellow-eyed penguins) live in the subantarctic so that's as far south as I've managed to get so far...
