You know what's sad is that most of the colored pellets all taste the same regardless of what they look like. They're not like flavored to the color like cereals and other things are. At least from the pellets I've tasted.

I feed my senegal the cockatiel size zupreem fruits, which have red, orange, and green spheres, and yellow banana shaped pellets.

She eats all the spheres because most of them are small enough that she swallows them whole, but she has to crack the bananas into like, thirds to swallow them.

She does eat red, orange, then green though.

I've heard it said that they are better than no pellet at all but that more natural pellets are better then they are.

As for vitamins, my vet has told me to avoid putting anything in their drinking water because anything in the water encourages bacteria growth and because a strange taste could put the bird off of their water.

...you certainly have to keep the water clean if you add vitamins...but if you change daily, and it's not horribly hot (temperature-wise)...it should be fine...I used water-based vitamins for years...

...and it was the avian vet who told me to add them to the water (while I was dealing with the malnutrioned 'tiel)...vs. the food...but that was back in the day before pellets.

LOL - I guess all of our vets need to get together and agree on something!

Ok ZuPreem is a very good brand my breeder recomends it my amazon grew up with them. funny after reading the post I looked in his bowl he left the purple and yellow ones. and ate all of them. Make sure you get right size for your bird.
