Is there anything else that LOOKS like ZuPreem Fruitblend?

I'm trying to figure out if I can save a ton by reproducing the dry mix that Scotty has been eating (plus I could share some ingredients with Scooter to see if he likes them better than what's in his seed mix). I know it has Scenic pellets and Harrisons pellets (I read up on the Scenic and they sound really good... if the San Diego Zoo uses them, that's a pretty good recommendation in my book) and it has some dried fruits and nuts and pasta and cinnamon and star anise. It also has some colored pellets in round and moon shapes at a fairly small fraction of the mix... Scotty particularly seems to like the orange ones. Is there anything they could be besides ZuPreem? Scooter's mix has these, too, and I think the package IDs them as ZuPreem, but he isn't crazy about them, he actually prefers Roudybush pellets that I mix in...

Prettybird makes colored pellets and I think thy come in shapes. There are probably some generic ones out there as well.

The pretty bird ones are more textured and crunchy looking. The zupreem look more smooth and the colors are brighter while pretty bird is a duller color. Also the zupreem have a much more fruity smell to them. Basically pretty bird is somewhere in the middle between the colored/flavored and uncolored sorts of pellets.

May I suggest putting Scotty on medium Roudybush and then serving Scooter his leftovers? I'm not sure if Scooter is big enough to eat the medium pellets himself (Kili does and loves them). But if he isn't, I guarantee you Scotty will leave behind a load of smaller pieces in his wake and they would be just the size for Scooter. No need to buy 2 different sizes that way!

Sounds like it's Pretty Bird then. It's a fairly open-textured nugget.

I don't mind buying Scooter his own food! Although if I don't pick up that second 50% I may have to start being more frugal. Right now he does get Roudybush -- the little tiny pellets as he seems to prefer things sort of seed sized -- mixed in with his safflower and grain mix. I might try him on some of these other things to see if he'll develop an interest in eating them.

We'll probably keep Scotty on the Scenic since he seems to be OK with it and it is a good pellet. Don't know if it is worth mixing with the Harrisons (or Roudybush) or not.

In any event, the last time I weighed him, he was up to 310g so he's definitely eating enough, even though it doesn't seem as if he eats a lot! Wish he'd eat his fresh food. Sigh.
