What kind of scale do you use?

Postby Mr.Darcy » Sun Sep 12, 2010 6:24 pm

I am going to get a scale to keep track of my birds weight. Does everyone use a basic kitchen scale? And do you weigh your birds daily, twice daily, weekly.....? Which is best? I know for myself it is very discouraging to weigh in daily  But seriously we fluctuate different times of the day so when is best for birds??

I just recently got a basic digital kitchen scale and that is what I use to weigh my birds. It has a flat glass base and they both step down onto it without any issues.

I don't weigh them on a daily basis. I weight about once a week. There aren't any health concerns ... if I had any I would weigh at least daily. My two are consistent within a couple grams every time I weigh them.

I got a kitchen scale at target with a flat glass top. My 2 that I weigh step down on it fine after a couple of days of bribing them first.
I weigh daily as we changed diet not too long ago and I need to make sure that we are on the right track.

I actually found mine at Canadian Tire - a red tag sale. So that's another store you can consider.

Glass top digital gram scale from Targét. Not more than 30 bucks, probably less, don't remember. Be sure to swap the scale from ounces to grams. I weigh Truman about 3 times a day. I don't even bother weighing Kili much any more cause I can tell what her weight is just by looking at her and things going on. I just used to weigh her so much in the past that I just know. I just verify my guesses once in a while with her.

I assume you weigh Truman 3 times because of his recent injury....Will you continue daily once he is fully recovered??

By the way Love the accent in Target!!
