Sounds as if you are likely facing a rough time. I wish I had something useful to say. Hugs and best wishes. To you and OG. Whatever the right things to do are, I'm sure they are the things you will do.

Today was the first day that OG has spent the whole day with us and was without tube feedings. We went out and bought a gram scale as we need to weigh her often throughout the day to make sure her weight does not drop. She is definitely happier being home with us. She is on a menu of junk food, just to keep her eating. After feeding her today, I sat in a rocking chair with her on my chest pressed up against my face for a couple of hours. She was just so content, and the time spent so close to her meant the world to me.

She has brief moments where she seems a bit better, but they are very brief. She still cannot walk at all and can barely perch. We can't let her on our shoulders as she is not able to balance and we cannot risk her falling. Just thinking about her condition makes me cry. We are praying for a miracle.

There is hope in those brief moments since they exist. I pray that those brief moments will grow longer in duration and eventually be full days once again.

I hope she starts to improve!

Doesn't sound like the zinc caused the problems, especially with no clinical improvement after chelation. It may be worth asking your vet to at least try a vitamin B shot. The usual blood panel doesn't test for vitamin levels (unless your vet specifically requested them) so it could be a Thiamine deficiency causing the neurological symptoms. Of course , PDD is sounding more likely but its good to rule out other causes of neurological disease. Sometime neural larval migrans can cause the same signs so deworming with fenbendazole may do the trick, although, may have missed the opportunity if it was a parasite as now there may only be scar tissue in the brain which is causing the problems.

Just a few extra thoughts in case your vet hasn't considered them.

Sending well wishes OG's way :senegal:

OG has been able to maintain her wait these last few days at home without tube feedings. She is obviously loving to be hand-fed and all of the treats. Her weight now is up to about 108 grams.

The other day OG took a few somewhat shaky steps across the table. Jack and I couldn't believe our eyes. Her first real steps in weeks. Her grip seemed a little stronger too. Seconds later she was back to being unable to walk or perch again. We both cried as for the first time in a wile we saw hope, but it just made it even harder when she regressed again.

We are headed back to the vets office in a few minutes. She wants to talk to us about the crop biopsy and also some omega-3 therapy.

We are just trying to take one day at a time, and love every minute we have with her.

Another quick update. Looks like OG will have her crop biopsy next Tuesday if we manage to keep her weight stable in the meantime.
