wanted to express my sympathies as well. I'm sure this is heartbreaking for you. That picture of OG & her carrot face is darling. My baby does the same thing w/sweet potato. Focus on all those good memories.

I'm so sorry to hear about OG. I know nothing we say can take the pain of loosing her away, but you're both in my thoughts.

I'll give Lucy and Jessie extra kisses and scratches tonight while thinking about you and OG.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

OG left such a huge crater in our lives. Her cage is in our home office, where we spend the majority of the day. It has been so hard to walk into the room without wanting to say hi to her.

I know it probably seems too soon, but today we went looking for another bird. We looked at many and spent some time with quite a few but fell completely in love with one green cheek conure. We cannot bring the little guy home until we get the results back from OGs biopsy and completely sanitize our home, but we are really looking forward to when we can.

Nah, it's not too soon. A GCC will not "replace" OG, but they are fun little guys and you'd clearly give him (or her) a great home.

Definitely not too soon, the little conure will never replace OG but she will help fill the gap in your heart. I'm speaking from experience. I lost a beloved parrot a while back and I found that the new addition helped me cope with the loss.

As for sanitising, get rid of anything that is wooden or porous that OG may have had contact with. Clean the cage with virkon or trigene, both of these are viricidal, your vet should be able to sell you some. Remember, even if the results come back negative it doesn't entirely rule out PDD so its better to be safe.

Enjoy your new little mate, conures make wonderful pets :D
