My GCC looooooooooves them! We would never have considered them except that they were recommended by our avian vet and the concept was explained to us.
An all-seed diet does not meet all of a parrot's nutritional needs. That's why pellets are healthier: they contain vitamins and minerals and protein and everything packed into little packages in the right amount. Simply sprinkling these vitamins and minerals over seed diets doesn't work because the bird just shells the seed and eats the middle - and therefore doesn't really ingest the healthy stuff that's sprinkled on the shells.
Nutriberries are like pellets but before they're ground down and shaped into little tubes. They're made of husked seeds that are glued together by a sticky, healthy, vitamin-rich stuff so that the parrot has to eat the healthy stuff along with the yummy seeds.
If your bird is over-weight then you should definitely just use them as treats because they do contain more calories than pellets, but if your bird is a healthy weight, or especially if they're underweight and need some extra calories, my vet says to include them as a part of their daily diet and right along with the pellets. Not replacing the pellets, but even up to 40% of a bird's diet. My vet was telling me about some very good studies coming out that have mainly been done on cockatiels to compare the health value of a pellet diet vs. Nutriberries vs. mixed diet and the results for adding Nutriberries to their diet looks good!
I wish they did come in smaller bits though, like Roudybush. Mango does tend to drop a lot of the "berry bits" even though we break them into smaller chunks for him.
