Hi...I just got my tiel a couple of days ago too :greycockatiel: I think it's male although I'm not sure....but he chirps and plays with me while im sitting with him but when I move away hell just sit still and fluff up, he also only eats when I offer it to him, I don't think he actually goes to the food bowl on his own:(, I think it's might be my cage layout coz his wings are clipped so it's kinda hard for him to get around...so yeah if you've noticed anything that helps with yours please let me know? Thank you :D
Oh and he also gets these random hyper sessions once in a while where he'll climb all over the cage and try to fly and fall and yeah if anyone knows why that would help?

What are you feeding this bird? I can't see why clipped wings would prevent him from climbing wherever he wants to in the cage. Regardless of that if he falls and seems to have difficulties then put his food in a dish that id down near the bottom of the cage and the same with his water. How old is your cockatiel? Can you post a picture of your cage?
I am also going to suggest that you take him in to see an avian vet right away as it sounds to me like you have a sick bird and it is likely that he was sick when you got him so he could be very much sicker than you would think as they tend to hide an illness until it is too late to save them. I would not bother with an appointment I would just get to the vets as soon as they open.

I agree, either this is a sick bird or he is too young to be on his own and slowly starving to death so, please, take him to an avian vet on an emergency basis asap.
