Apollo Sneezing?

Postby ldallas04 » Tue Nov 23, 2010 4:29 pm

Today Apollo :sun: started sneezing every 15 minutes or so this morning. We were going to take him for a wellness check up next week but since there seems to be a clear fluid coming from the nostrils when he sneezes we made an appointment for today. The feathers near his nasal openings are just a little damp. I've never dealt with bird illness, nor do I even know if this is something that should concern me. Do parrots sneeze regularly? I feel like thats not the case. Maybe he dipped his face too far in while he was drinking... I'm stuck at work thinking about it while Dan takes the poor bird to the vet without me.

:sigh:

Dry sneezes are considered normal, but a discharge is not, so I think the vet visit is the better part of valor... Scotty does "feather sneezes" fairly often and it worried me at first since Scooter never seems to, but the vet deemed them normal. FWIW.

Update:
Apollo is fine. The doctor thinks he may have gotten some water up his nose while he was drinking upside down. :D At least he's had his physical and the doc says Apollo may turn out to be a LARGE sun conure. Lol. He is 12 weeks and 99 grams. Hooray!

Also the sneezing stopped hours before the exam. :? Silly bird.
