I have a plastic, hook on water bowl in her cage that I use for her water. But I've never seen her drink from it!? She also spends a lot of time with me outside her cage and then her water bowl isn't with her...so does she actually drink? This worries me a bit!?
I had the same impression when I first got Scooter, but if she weren't drinking she wouldn't last very long... so she probably is just doing it when you aren't looking. They don't drink a huge volume, I rarely notice the water level going down and when it does, it usually means someone took a bath!
I like to have water available on playstands where the bird might be for some length of time. Do make sure the water is kept fresh -- I change it at least daily and wash the dishes frequently, putting them through the dishwasher fairly often. It helps to have several you can rotate.
I was sure that she was drinking, but was just concerned that I hadn't actually seen her drinking! So thank you, I feel better knowing that she must be drinking! Thank you also for the tip about having a few water bowls to rotate...good idea!
I'm heading to a huge pet store today and I'm likely to spend lots of money (that I don't have)...but I can't help myself, I love to spoil my Jodi!!!!!
They don't drink a whole lot and they tend to be sneaky about it when they do. I don't know why that is??? They also get a lot of their water out of fresh fruits and veg if they are available to them.
