Yes, don't ever let whoever did that clip touch your bird again!

I don't recommend plucking them to get them to grow in faster but in this case I wonder. Being clipped so severely can be dangerous as they fall to the floor and can break their keel bones. But, if he's almost 6 months old, hopefully he will have his first molt very soon.

Hey Micheal usually once a year but some birds might molt more frequently if conditions are right.They usually molt before breeding season or before/after migration, different birds different seasons. i'm not too up on suns but maybe someone else will chime in and let us know.
