Budgie Sick?

Postby 7amzus » Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:07 pm

Hi,

My budgie Light that I got two years ago is showing strange symptoms. He is puffing up and breathing and his poo is green and runny. He also hasn't had fruits or vegetables for the past few days. I don't think I have done anything wrong (other than the not eating fruits part but am not going to continue now due to the situation). He was healthy bird up until today. I'm not sure what might of caused this. He was all playful and cheerful yesterday chirping and wanting to break free of the cage and just fly! I took him out today and he was flying around crazily and like he didn't know me! I eventually got him to calm down. He also still follows commands but seems very reluctant. Also something very important to mention is that this is only the first day so I will have to monitor him for a bit. Can anyone help me with my problem. I will post back if I see anything strange.

Thanks

When in doubt, go to a vet.

Thanks for the response guys. I started to notice that he doesn't seem to be as puffed as he was in the afternoon. I'll have to see his condition for a day or two. I'm not completely sure but i think he may feel cold because when I put him in a very warm area he was in his normal state so that is a possibility. He also may be molting because he did something similarly when he was molting a few weeks back.

Those symptoms sound like a sick bird... I would go to the vet, personally. One which knows birds, and preferably knows your bird!
