Palm nuts

Too big for a Green-cheek Conure?

What are the thoughts on them?
Wild animals are called 'wild' for a reason. Keep them that way. Adopt your pets, or buy them from a certified breeder.

Ah...and one more question. I give my GCC Avix Sunshine Factor, the red palm oil supplement. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how NOT to get that goop EVERYWHERE?

I only give him about a drop a day, because of how small he is. I use an eyedropper. But it also ends up completely clogged up like crazy.

How does everyone else manage?

I typically don't give my birds the nuts with the shell. So maybe you should open them up yourself?

As for the supplement, no clue.

I keep mine in the fridge, so it lasts longer. It hardens in the fridge, so I just use a small spoon and scoop off the right amount for Jazz's size, which is 1/4 teaspoon. Really easy, no mess.

It then goes in the micro-wave with the vegetables I give him, so it melts into the food and gets eaten like that. But some birds will eat it right out of the fridge.

I saw an outfit in Fla, selling the Palm nuts . Do you want me to try and find it? I thought that ,that might be a good market to get into, selling fresh ,organic bird food ,nuts, seeds, natural foods, etc.

Thanks. I'll try and fridge + spoon method and see how it goes.

As for palm nuts; I'm in Canada. But someone on this forum suggested this site for bird-things; http://www.mysafebirdstore.com/. They sell palm nuts and will ship them. I'm contemplating ordering some to try.

Fair amount of competition on the internet, but there is a definite market!
