It's not my fault I have a dirty mind, I'm Australian! =)

I don't understand people's issue with sheath cleaning, it might help that my hors is brilliant with it(and enjoys it a tad too much...), but it's something that has to be done, fir me it's up there with worming/feet trimming/feeding etc. I think more horse owners need to suck it up. I know of owners who'd get the vet out every time and have him sedate the horse, then do the cleaning. Honestly? Teach your horse some manners, or realize that said horsey really does NOT need sedating.

Anyway; this is a bird forum, not a sheath cleaning forum.

It is a remarkably stinky job, there is no odor that clings like that! But the emails came from non-horsey people with dirty minds, not horse people. I'll have the vet do it if he's tranquilizing for a float anyway.

See, there are things about parrots that are easier than some other animals!

Really? It's stinky? I've never noticed that. Crusty, yes. Stinky, no. TMI?!

I don't mind doing it. I just thought the lesson place was messing w/ me as a 1st time horse owner. I feed my boys some grain or scratch their shoulders and they get all happy and "relaxed" and then I swoop in and grab it and clean it.

Parrot ownership's low maint compared to horses. . .

I would rather clean a parrot's mess than any other pet's mess.

Cleaning out stalls, litter boxes, fish tanks, and taking the dog out...I'd rather have Einstein poop on me.

Sheesh, and all I wanted to know was if people find it necessary to wash store-bought nuts before serving them to their parrots to consume
