Yeah, dunking, it's what they do. I don't enjoy dry toast either. I dunk biscotti in my coffee. What do birds in the wild eat that's as dry as pellets?

Capt and anyone else who uses a bottle - Doesn't it boggle your mind that they can backwash into a bottle?!

Bottle good idea, but you still have to wash it and refill it every couple of days due to backwash. It sometimes develops a weird slime inside, too. I have two sets of bottles for all my birds. Wash and disinfect w/ mild bleach solution one bottle while I give them the second w/ fresh water and I rotate the two bottles about every 2-3 days.

Scooter only seems to dunk the dry pasta bits in his seed and pellet mix. Think he's trying to tell me something?

Marty dunks his pellets towards the evening for some reason so i change it when hes all done and if he does it earlier ill change it when i have a chance, its just mushy pellets. i dont see a problem with them dunking he enjoys his food a little softer i wouldnt like to eat something that dry either lol :)

I used to have major issues with this with Jacko---she'd make soup out of everything and I could never keep up with the changes in a day to keep the water fresh (and she subsequently developed a small yeast infection). Sully had a habit of pooping in his dish and making himself sick.

Both of them were switched to a water bottle. I had issues with Jacko backwashing and clogging her tube and making a god awful sludge mess that wasn't any better than a bowl. What did the trick was changing the pellet sizes. Giving her small, bite-sized pellets meant she didnt feel a need to have to crack and moisten these huge dry pellet chunks. She still will go over and get a gulp of water with her pellets occaisionally, but they're so small they dont make a mess or a clog the tube.
