I've only done it on special occasions or when we happen to have made something that would be suitable for the birds to eat. Then again, it rarely gets THAT cold here, and my husband hates cold, so we keep the house no cooler than the mid-60s so they don't really need warming up.

Yeah, I do. I just pop the big bowl of mash in the microwave for a minute.

Cold sucks. I hate being cold. It's not that hard to me to warm up their food.

If I make something for myself to eat that the birds can also have, I give it to them warm. My GCC got warm black beans and rice today. Otherwise, I don't bother.

Entranced & patdbunny: You Californians are odd ducks. I was there in November and it was in the 50s and 60s, and the San Diegans were wearing winter coats! That's t-shirt and shorts weather over here.

Ya! You can always tell the tourists - They're in shorts at the beach in 70 degree weather :P . 70 is freakin' COLD at the beach. Anything below 70 I need a parka.

My cousins are in the New England area. They say the same thing as you do kaylayuh. If I can see my breath, it's too cold to go outside. Nuff said!

Storm's coming through. I just checked the thermometer. It's gone below 60. I have to go hibernate now.

LOL. It was 60 here last week and I had my windows open.

It's in the 30s now and it snowed Wednesday. My boyfriend is supposed to get 6 to 10 inches of snow in the next 36 hours, so I think he's a bit worse off.

Be careful, you can give an adult bird crop burn ,just like a baby bird.If something too hot gets into their crop ,it can burn them ,followed by a bad infection, that can be fatal.Nothing over about 105 degrees F, and a microwave will leave "hot spots"in their food.
