A few weeks ago I noticed that my Green Cheek Conure's droppings had become watery. I made an appointment at the vet (unfortunately there are no Avian vets in our area, only 1 who sees alot of birds) and he diagnosed her with a bacterial gut infection. He said she would have to stay at the clinic for around 5 days for treatment (would need antibiotics and then have to eat poo from a healthy bird to recolonise the gut?). After 7 days of not hearing anything, I asked if I could take her home. When I collected her, the vet said the treatment had not gone as well as planned and that she would still need injections. Since the start of treatment it has been 11 days, over $300 and her droppings are still very watery.
Is this normal?
Has anyone had a conure with a similar condition?
At this stage Im getting really worried about her, and feel that maybe she is not receiving adequate treatment.
