I can't imagine why uncooked rice would be harmful to birds. In fact, many birds that migrate through countries with a lot of rice paddies often feed in the flooded paddies during their winter migration. I've never heard of those birds dropping out of the sky dead, and my particular parrots are alive and kicking. I give my birds both cooked and uncooked brown rice, rice treats, and the occasional rice food. They've also had rice baby food. A quick google search also turns up a bunch of articles, specifically a snopes.com article, stating that this is a myth.

The only food I'm really concerned about are those commonly warned against: chocolate, caffeine, avocados. None of those even come close to my birds or anything that comes in contact with my birds. I'm also particularly careful regarding apple seeds and pits in cherries and other stone fruit. If you need some help with dangerous foods, a quick google search gives a ton of links. As always, if you think something is bad for your birds or you don't feel comfortable giving it to them, you don't have to.
