GoldenFeast dried fruit and vegetable mixes?

Postby zazanomore » Sat Jun 04, 2011 9:50 am

I've been looking for a good mix of dried fruit and vegetables for my guys.

They don't like fresh foods. I've tried Michael's suggestions on his blog, but they are just not interested. They do however love dried foods. Which, I suppose, is better than having none at all.

My guys have 4 bowls in their cages. 1 bowl for their premium mix diet, which includes nuts, tropican pellets, fruits, vegetables, and seed. Another bowl is filled with roudybush crumbles pellets. I fill the other two bowls with water. They really love picking out the fruit bits from their mix. Einstein and Clyde are little piggys, and will always have fruit stuck on their beaks (Bonnie wipes her face on a perch).

One of my favorite Canadian websites (http://www.parrotdiseperch.com/parrot/index.php) has a wide selection of Goldenfeast mixes and pellets.

What I am interested is the Gardenflora Blend II: http://www.goldenfeastfoods.com/online/ ... -blend-ii/

Does anyone have anything to say about the Goldenfeast products? Good? Bad? What do you think of the gardenflora?

I'm not sure how well my modeling/jealousy approach works with cockatiels and budgies. I don't think they feel jealous of us in the same ways but with the parrots that greater associate with us it works much better. It's debatable how much value budgies/cockatiels get from these kinds of foods. It may well be possible that a well balanced fortified seed mix could be best for them.Ideal Cockatiel/budgie diet is still very poorly known. It may be that they are so reluctant to eat alternate foods cause they don't need them.

My parrots on the other hand love new foods (not all but many) so it's all about presentation.

My guys will eat ANYTHING except for fresh foods. They love their pellets.

I think budgies and cockatiels do benefit from pellets. My guys are in top health, they have plenty of energy, and their feathers are in perfect condition.

They go ahead and pick out dried foods. They really enjoy it.

I want my guys to have as much variety as possible.

Enough said. If they're in great shape eating just that then why change it?

I just ordered 3 or 4 bags of different dried foods from Goldenfeast. They should have been here already. I'll let you know, but they must be very good quality, because they are recommended for Eclectus by knowledgeable people, and Eclectus are very sensitive to what they eat.

Sure, they're in St-Clements, Ontario. Shipping cost me 7$ and I'm in Quebec. She said I would get it thursday or friday (past) though, and I still haven't got anything...

Maybe wait until I get my package if you want to order from there, just to be sure. I got an order confirmation and shipping info, so I guess it should be okay, but you never know.

My budgies love fresh food! All four of them fight for the cucumbers :P

Do yours eat vegetables at all?
