Hey all,
what is the deal with mineral blocks? Does anyone use them? I have never used them but I am wondering what the benefit is and does anyone use them???

from what i have seen, they are a good source of calcium and they give something else for birds to chew on for a while

well when my baby :greycockatiel: came to me first, only a week ago his beak was so weak he cudnt eat nything but millet and budgie seed. but he chewed on that everyday and is beak can now break open sum flower seeds and pellets and now i see he chews on it less day by day so i guess somehow he knew he needed it once hed tried it the first time. i got the cuttle bone with the pink block surrounding and i think thats full of iron for him

My birds have cuttle bones and Manu mineral blocks.

I'm pretty sure they aren't needed if you give them a well balanced diet.

Budgies and I think, Cockatiels, absolutely need Iodine in their diet because they consume it in the wild. I believe those mineral blocks are mainly Iodine blocks.
