Regurgitation

Postby meowingaround » Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:27 pm

I've noticed that when I bring Windy upstairs with me to the bathroom instead of leaving him downstairs screaming at me o_0 He gets overexcited and empties his crop all over the walls.
I think he might be calling for Willow as he tends to talk/sing/scream at his own shadow on the wall.

He starts getting excited as soon as we climb the steps, Willow was housed upstairs when he first came to us, and both birds were upstairs for most of the winter last year.

I'm not sure if I'm doing everything right, basically right now I let Windy be on me all day. And I bring him with me everywhere because he screams if I even turn a corner and he can't see me. I really don't understand why he doesn't just fly to me since he knows how to, but he screams until I go fetch him.

I don't believe the regurgitation is a serious problem at this point, but I'm concerned that he might be developing problems.

He is very insecure and lonely. Have you thought of replacing Willow?

I've read that regurgitation is also a mating behavior in males. It means he loves you. You should be careful not to let your bird spend *too* much time with you because they start viewing you as a mate and can become aggressive to other people and become unhappy or distressed when they're not with you. At least that's what the parrot trainers at http://www.birdtricks.com and others say.
