What illnesses can cockatiels get? And what are the symptons

I am NOT going to post on this topic anymore. Your attitude and lack of care towards a sick bird has really upset me. I hope somebody else can get you to understand the responsibility we have to our birds. We asked them to join our family not the other way round. This means we MUST care for them properly, and you did not show Dusty any due care.

Lemon lover, this is really bad. I really hate it when people buy birds but they can't take them to the vet. If you don't have the money to care for a bird, don't buy it! If your birds are sick and you dont take them to the vet, this is just pure animal cruelty. it is not fair at all, especially if you are planning to breed. You will need to take the parents to the vet to check if they are ok and you will need to take the babies to the vet to check if they are ok. It is very bad to sell the babies is you don't know if they are ok, it is also unfair on the new owner. I may sound a bit harsh, but I want you to know that it is pure animal cruelty to not take your bird, or any other pet for that matter, to the vet. Please take them to the vet, I really feel sorry for your birds. I know that if Ladu was sick, I would have to take him to the vet (as I have done in the past). Please rethink not taking your bird to the vet.

Thanks Ladu for supporting me on this post. I have been very distressed over the lack of treatment not being given to Dusty. In Australia it is an offence not to provide vet care to a sick or injured animal. The offence carries fines and/or jail time. I have no hesitation in reporting any abuse of an animal to the authorities, as the animals need a voice and if we dont stand up for them, who will? I know Lemonlover is quite young, but her age does not excuse not providing proper care. I hope the other birds are healthy,(which is not known as they have not been vet checked) cos as shown, if they are not, the will not get vet care, they will die and be replaced with another bird. Yet, the cost of a new bird would be on par with an a-vet putting down a sick bird. Its just plain cruel and I am very angry and upset with some peoples attitude "its just a bird, if it dies, I will get another one" mentality or "I can do what I want, cos they are my birds"

Believe it or not we are not picking on you or correcting you because of your age. I am the oldest in the forum but if I do something they think is wrong it is their RESPONSIBILITY to tell me. That is why I am here.

The only time we remember your age is when you mouth off instead of listen to someone who MIGHT know more than you.
