Dull feathers...

Postby Tandi » Sat Aug 27, 2011 1:32 am

I'm also concerned about my Jodi bird! His feathers just look dull and horrible and nothing I do seems to help. On the advice of helpful folks on this forum I changed his food and for the first while his feathers were looking much better, but they no longer seem to be improving. His feathers also seem to break a lot, and while he does tend to play a little rough I don't think his feathers should break this much.

He doesn't seem to be sick, his eyes are bright, there is no discharge from his nose, he eats well, he plays and he still chats away, he seems like a perfectly healthy bird except for his poor feather condition. I include a few drops of wheat germ oil in his food daily on the advice of a bird shop near by. He eats a full skewer of fresh fruit daily as well as his other food (I'm feeding Avi Plus Complete Parrot, a food that I mix with warm water every morning to which I add some mixed seeds, peanuts, chopped spinach and a small scoop of a plumage enhancing pellet I bought specifically for him). He also gets sunlight and fresh air daily.

So what am I doing wrong? Why does he look like such a scruff? Please help!

First off what kind of bird is he/she? How old? How long have you had him/her? This would be good info to know.
