puffed rice cereal?

Postby SKOShields » Wed Sep 14, 2011 3:08 pm

I've seen ppl post here that birds can eat rice and pasta and such, so I was wondering if they could eat the puffed rice cereal, like rice krispies? Mainly just as a treat or to put in a toy or something?

Ok thanks :)
What about cheerios? Not the honey ones but the plain ones? I thought those would be cool to string up as kinda like a toy/treat.

I give these to my birds as treats

They are low sodium and sugar and they love them. Discovered it by accident when my Godson was visiting and he dropped them.

Pre-packaged foods are tricky. Some of them are really bad, and others are passable.

At this point in time, sugar and sodium is the least of my worries when it comes to eating. Gone are those days. Now, we have much more advanced evils in our foods.

Look carefully at the ingredients of the cereal. Steer clear of anything that contains BHT, or anything that looks to have any sort of food additives. BHT is actually banned in other countries as it is a known carcinogen. However, the USA again proves itself behind on food and health standards and still allows BHT to be used as a food preservative.

Also, anything that is some sort of form of soy or corn should be avoided, as well. This means soy protein, soy lecithin, soy whatever, high fructose corn syrup, corn, corn blah. If it doesn't say organic, then it is probably 99.9% for sure GMO, which means that it has all sorts of pesticides and pesticides genes spliced in.

Don't give it to your birds or anyone you care about. And you shouldn't be eating those things either.
