My GCC loves Hagen daaz coffee ice cream. Absolutely loves. He is your best friend when he knows you're eating it. I let him eat the whole tub. Just kidding.

I get a kick out of it when they eat chicken of any kind. Eggs, too, for that matter.

I had these taiwanese crackers made from beer yeast and he loved that, too.

He tried to eat my lollipop once.

They both like cereal... dipped in milk.

Other than that, there really isn't much that you can give to a bird that's really "extraordinary", but maybe someone will prove me wrong...

Lucky bird, I LOVE Hagen Daaz lol  I would not be able to give my cockatiel some, it's just too good

I guess the strangest thing I've fed them are bugs. Both Bag O' Bugs and that disgusting cricket thing that they refused to touch. Can't blame them though, it was pretty disgusting. They love Bag O' Bugs though.

Maybe a few other things that I consider normal but other people seem to have commented on quite a bit should be included. Like rambutans, which I must admit look a little odd but are delicious.

As for unhealthy food...not much to add. I try to keep my food, which is not usually optimal bird food, away from the birds. I always make sure they have a fresh meal while I am eating so they don't feel left out. I try not to give them anything fried and I never give them meat. I tried giving them boiled chicken once and they refused to touch it. The only thing I must confess is that Squeaky discovered that he looooooves those fried crispy noodles that come with takeout Chinese. He goes crazy over them. Every once in a while I break off a tiny piece and let him have it. I'm super careful to do in infrequently and I make sure it is a tiny piece. I think it's alright. It only happens maybe three times a year. Plus, I try to avoid takeout Chinese.

I've never given them any chocolate or ice cream but I did let Malachite try a pineapple icie. It's one of those natural ones that doesn't have any yucky things or any sugar because I can't stand having sugar added to my fruit. He was unsure about it. Since it is basically frozen pineapple juice I didn't think it would hurt him.

Isn't chocolate extremely bad for birds? I thought it was never, ever to be given. I'm not going to give it to them anyway but I am curious. I'm also wondering how many of you have given your birds things that are obviously junk food, like pizza and fried chicken, and what your birds thought? I know of an Amazon that is given pizza and loves it. What is the verdict on cheese? Is it okay or not? I'm not going to give it to them anyway because it seems too unnatural to me but I am curious as to what everyone thinks.

That is one of the best parrot books I've read, and I've read a lot of them. I thought the book's diet section was adequate, but not extensive. Chickpeas are fine, as is rice and pasta, but yes, cook it.

jango goes nuts when i blend apple and powder for his wet mix together, it such a horribly smelling food and doesn't look very appetising especially when he likes the skin blended with it.

you may ask how on earth i came across this, i came across it when he was chewing up parts of his apple and dunking it in his wetmix and then eating it.
