My bird's been tricking me

I woke up from a nap today and saw my bird tossing his pellets out of the bowl. As soon as he realized I was awake, he started eating them. When I pretended to go back to sleep, he started tossing them again. I think he does this because he knows I give treats sparingly, usually waiting for him to eat a good amount of pellets first.

Too smart indeed Ladu, my cockatiel, has stage fright he whistles when no one is in the room but as soon as someone walks in, he stops and starts preening LoL

It's also a way for your pet to get your attention. When you're sleeping your attention is lost. If you get upset at mess making, your pet could be tossing the pellets to get you to come over and clean, regaining your attention. Same with the whistling. The cockatiel stops once someone's in the room because now they have the company they sought.

I think it goes the other way.

Two of my friends who Myrtle dearly loves brought their daughter and grandson to visit (her). She stayed on her tree and never made a noise. She just kept looking at them. Rambo stayed in his "nite nite" cage the whole time.

The last time my two friends were here, Myrtle acted up like a two year old to get attention. She even kept flying to them to tell them stuff in their ears. Rambo can't fly and felt left out so I put him on the back of a chair while we played poker. At one point he ran across the table and stole what he thought was a jelly bean. It was an m&m so I had to run him down and take it away. To retaliate he stole a poker chip which I had to take.

My friends like to play poker but I think it is just an excuse to come visit my animal house.
