Possible broken leg?

My one cockatiel Jane, overflew her cage a bit and hit the wall and subsequently, landed hard. She is limping and has limited flight. She still wants to walk and move as much as she can and she still nips me when my hands get close but she wobbles when she walks. I'm not sure what to do (my cousin is in vet school so i'll call her tomorrow) if its a sprain or if its broken. There appears to be no swelling and I did some light touching on her and there was no squeal of pain. She still move both of her legs and can grip but she is limping. Any thoughts (yes I know vet I'm weighing my options esp. because money is tight and idk how much a vet bill is)?

Take her to the avian vet ASAP. Birds are very good at concealing pain because in the wild predators will pick on weak birds. She may well be in a lot of pain.

In the meantime keep the bird extra warm, monitor food and droppings. If it continues eating normally and resumes normal walking within 36 hours, then it's probably fine. If after 36 hours it is still showing signs of illness, not eating, abnormal droppings, weight dropping, etc, then vet is critical.

This is why it is critical to have a) a fund set a side for vet emergencies, or better yet b) have your parrot insured.

Vet bills are very expensive, and these guys live for a long time. When we get a parrot we take it upon ourselves to safeguard their wellbeing. This means providing a good home, a rich life and all help that is necessary.

I realise that you care deeply for your parrot and will do your utmost to make her well, and I write this post not for you, but for future parrot owners out there. Be prepared to deal with situations like this. I would do what Michael said, but if she doesnt show signs of improving, you need to take here to a vet!

Yeah I went for under graduate and double manifest in criminoloy and German and am double mastering in public admin and applied social research. She has a broek collar bone I forget what bird bird version is. She had pain meds and what not. Cheat lake get Is awrsome
