What to do

Postby PapayaTheConure » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:17 pm

As I stated before, I was trying to let Papaya grow out her feathers so she could fly (she came to us clipped). Well, during her first molt, her primaries grew out. I was so excited! Than, a week later, thy fell out!!! However, her first molt has now passed and there is no chance of her flight feathers growing out 'till next year. I know Micheal has had some problems in the past with Kili growing her feathers out. Any advice? :gcc:

I can't help you.

Rambo is 20 and no flight feathers. I wish I could super glue him some. He wants to fly so bad that he is building his muscles and flapping like a humming bird.

Me too. My conure Dimas was clipped poorly from the breeder I got him from. The man was very nice about us taking him home. But he flaps like a maniac trying to fly. :(

Lord have mercy, my 3 have NO problemo flyin'....and once again tonite 2 of 'em proved it extremely well.

Tonite the 2 budgies were havin' some fun outta cage time just hangin' around & playin' on top of their cage when all of a sudden sumthin' musta spooked 'em good. They both took off, lookin' like jet engines circlin' overhead waitin' for a clear landin' strip but never findin' quite the right one. My son was crackin' up duckin' 'n hidin' while I was tryin' to figure out which way they were headed and where on earth they landed.

Stubborn lil' suckers they are.....butta few treats 'n some kind words eventually lead 'em right back home again.

It was a good nite of exercise and lotsa giggles for this ol' gal, that's for sure :-)

Rambo can't fly.

Myrtle flies like a jet fighter pilot. She makes a parrot call when she starts toward a doorway because we smacked into each other one time. If I am in the doorway she will swoop down under my arm sideways. That girl has it perfected. I have paper weights all over my desk because the air from her wings kick the paper up and flying. She is the reason Rambo is building his muscles to flap harder and fly. He is doing better but he sounds like a big humming bird.

Myrtle has also started walking with Rambo when he is on the floor. It always makes me laugh.

I thought Papaya was about to remain a pedestrian until... 4 days later after the first post I saw new flight feathers coming in! Now she is fully flighted and flies like a pro ( not really; but don't tell her I said that :D ). Yay!
