Kaytee Rainbow Pellets!

Postby LemonLover » Sun Dec 25, 2011 11:44 am

I desided that my cockatiels, Whiteout, Lemon, and Star, needed some more nutrients. So I went to Petsmart and picked up some of the Kaytee Ranbow Pellets. I heard birds eat smaller than what bird it is said to be for. So I got the bag for Finches. At first they were like, "What is this?", but after that day I woke up and heard crunching sounds from their cages. I turned the light on and they were all eating it! Two days later the pellets were gone. They absolutly LOVED it. I was surprised they were even touching the pellets. Now they are getting their vitamins.

TIP: Say you have a counre. You need to get them a bag of food for cockatiels. The reason, birds eat thigns smaller because it feels more protective for them. If a predeator came by they could get a couple more bites if it was smaller food. If it was large food it would take them a while to chew it and the predetor could easily eat the bird. Now, if you have a macaw. Get a bag of conure food. It works very well for me, so it should work for everyone else. Am I right or wrong? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Great job on the pellets! I would really suggest NON-colored pellets though. There's so much food color in those rainbow ones that I'd be very leery of feeding a lot.

I use RoudyBush pellets for the amazons and give crumbles to the tiels and lovies. There is no artificial color in them.

I switched cat food too. I now get the all natural without the cute shapes and colors. They love it. They no color or shapes dog food has done well too.

The colors and shapes are just for the owners benefit. The critters prefer without.

You did good to get them pellets. Next time look for the naturals and they will do better. Naturals have more nutrition and less of the un needed junk.

You are absolutely correct about the food colorin' fear factor, and I never realized it until I bought myself a microscope solely for the purpose of regularly examinin' my birds droppin's as a heads-up measure.

You outta SEE what crazy kinda stuff show up in their droppin's from eatin' those damn things! (and thats when I quickly ceased feedin' it regularly to my guys).

Dont worry guys. My mom and I went to Petsmart and bought the regular kind of pellets form Kaytee Brand. They still love it. :D I feel good now that I know they have proper nutrients and everything they need to be happy.

Lemonlover, I do need to tell you that Kaytee brand is the LOWEST quality of pellets you can get, and they're just as expensive as pellets that are so much better.

Next time, try buying Zupreem. Zupreem is a MUCH better brand and it is not any more expensive :)
