Urgent: my parrot is throwing up some fluid from mouth

Postby zz11 » Sun Jan 01, 2012 7:50 am

Dear All,

Please help me soon.

My green parakeet is throwing up some transparent fluid from its mouth. The feaces is coming white. He didn't eat anything since morning. Initially he drank extra amount of water when he got affected. But after showing him to a vet I have added the medicine, the doctor gave, to the water and my parrot is refusing to drink water now.

Please anyone help me in this regard. Apart from these obvious abnormalities she has been very inactive, and is trembling time after time. is she having seizures?

the doc said maybe its happening because of getting affected my winter but also presumes it to be food poisoning.

I want to give her something to eat. but considering if its food poisoning i would like to ask your suggestions on what things can i can give her to eat at this condition.

Regards,
Z

If she hasn't eaten anything she is in trouble. Give her some corn flakes or cherrios and call the vet. Tell him she won't take the water with medacine in it. He has to come up with an alternative. If she is shivering she might be fevered so keep her warm. A bird that small cannot last long without food and water. Call the vet.

Thanks alot for your reply.

She drank some medicated water now but then threw up a lot of saliva.

I have warmed up and cushioned her cage. she usually used to sleep beside me on my bed. but considering not to disturb her, i have kept her in a warm cage.

thanks again,
I am taking her to vet again. do u think bananas will be okay?

regards,
Z

Anything she likes that she can hold down. You could even scrape the salt off a soda cracker.

Thank you both.

I still feel i did not do enough. I wanted so much for her. I cant believe she is gone and I really miss her on my bed and waking me up in the morning.
