IRN help!

Postby adnan » Fri Jan 06, 2012 3:21 pm

MY ring neck is sleeping much through out the day.
Eating less.
I bought it 5 days ago, in small cage.
No vet available.

also tell me which seeds and diet do they eat, beacause he is eating less,
not confirmed about gender or age, but light green ring is feeling around neck with full tail.

IRN was coming on hand in pet shop, but scared from me now whenever i go near to cage.

Please some one help regarding above description.

give him some time to adjust to his new surroundings. eventually a bigger cage of course.
my IRN loves people food, fruit and nuts. he rarely touches his pellets anymore.
i stick a piece of apple on a stick and he goes for it right away. he likes bananas , pasta, peanut butter bread, corn on the cob, and especially oatmeal. he also likes birdie biscuits that come from the store.
IRNs are very food motivated and get excited when they see you eating. mine always want a bite of whatever i have.
good luck with him, he will come around.

Hi!

Is he on the seed mixture that he was eating at the pet store? If not, then ask the owner what he was eating there and buy it, it may be that he is used to the old mixture and doesn't really like the new one. After he has settled in and is doing fine, I suggest you convert him to pellets, they are much healthier (if you choose a well recommended brand) and the bird won't just pick out what he likes (which is what he would do in the seed mix), he will have to eat all of it which is the same. I think he is just settling in.

Ps. If you don't have a vet near, I suggest you find one, you never know what might happen....
