Bird cold/flu?

can birds get a cold? my lil sun conure sometimes sounds...well congested is how id explain it, his little noises and breathing sound like hes all snuffled up :S Behaviour is the same, still eating and drinking and playing, hasnt had a bath and got a breeze on him cos he wont bath...

They can get sick. I think there are certain kinds of avian flus but it's so unlikely for your bird to be able to catch that. I don't think they can get a cold but they can get sick. However, if the parrot is eating, pooping, vocalizing, playing, and weighing normally, I don't think it is sick. It could just be imitating noises or even copying you. It's not unheard of parrots catching sneezes and coughs from their owners without being sick at all :lol:

oh ok....well hes on his own so he wont catch anything! and as i said all other behaviours are fine altho i really hope i dnt sound like that :S...we live in an estate thats still being developed mayb hes trying to be a bobcat or a bulldozer hahahahaha

My senegal has developed a very nasty cough....due to the fact that I just got over a lung infection spanning 2 months. I almost want to take him to the vet to get a laugh...but the vet will laugh when I have to "cough" up the money to pay the bill. LOL Funny thing is I no longer have the cough and Oscar (bird) has kept the cough in his repitoire of mimics.
