In this book, tomatoes are on the list of sample daily diet and nutrition foods, in the bird diet and nutrition chapter of the book. The only thing is, you can't give them too much of it, because of the acidity. But it is a healthy fruit/veggie category for them. My parrot loves them, I give them to him once in a while, and only a little bit when I do, but tomatoes are part of his diet and nutrition. Oranges have acidity too, so you can't give them alot of them either, but they are healthy for them in moderation as part of their diet and nutrition. Get this book, it's wonderful.

Yes, thank you so much for researching and referencing what this L-canavanine is. The say the site comes across to me it's that the L-canavanine in these types of sprouts is what is not safe for birds. I want to know why and what it is.
