Lumps in the mouth

Postby Aurora and I » Sat Mar 17, 2012 5:27 am

I have recently found two lumps inside my rosella's mouth, and I am worried for her health, i have looked around the internet, but coulden't find anything. SO i turned to my most reliable source for parrot info, this forum.
SO I was wondering if I should be concerend about my birds health, and if I should take her to a vet. She's still eating normally, and her droppings are not runny, so I'm just wondering if any of you know what is happening? and if this is just normal. IF there are any Rosella owners on this forum could you watch your bird when it is eating and tell me if they have lumps on the upper half of their mouth.
Thanks.

She seems fine, but I fear she might have an upper respiratory illness, as she sits at midday fluffed up.
I first saw it when she was trying to pry open a sunflower seed.
thanks again!

I checked but I can not see any lumps on the inside of his mouth (as much as he will let me check... ) But that 'fluffed up' thing, my Joe also does that when he takes his afternoon nap... I can understand you are concerned though. No sneezing or anything?

The lumps have started to become more like disks ... like frisbee's (but very small) they seem normal now ... like they are developing because of her aging up? I don't know ...
But she does sneeze sometimes, like twice daily. And her upper beak (nose) is very flaky and dry ...
I'll get her checked out because if she does have an upper respiratory infection than maybe there is something we can do to cure it before it's too late.
By the way what gender is your rosella? because the lumps/disks might be a female thing ... i don't know.
Thanks for the help anyway.
She's about 8 months, if that helps.

My Rosella is a boy, we dont know how old he is though... we guess around 2 years. A lot of sneezing could be signs of a problem but it doesnt sound like there is that much sneezing. I guess a vet trip isnt a bad idea just to be on the safe side. :D Keep us informed ok??

will do, She is still very active, and dances and sings when i play my uke ... also she is responsive to training.
I think she is doing fine, but it's time we take her in for her regular checkup anyway.

How's her diet?

Sounds a bit like a vitamin A defiency if its not a respiratory illness outright.
