I posted too soon cause of kiddies yelling for me
A also wanted to ask, I have read that bleeding feathers or cuts can be fatal if the blood doesn't clot quickly enough. Now, we were lucky that it calmed down on it's own. I rang the out of hours vet near our old house (a 2hr drive away) for advice over the phone and they said since we didn't have any offical clotting agents that if it hadn't slowed down after 5-10mins to apply pressure like with any other wound until it stopped.
Now comes the question, I said she seems ok in herself but she is underweight and currently molting. She has just grown 4 new tail feathers in the space of 2 weeks (missing when we purchased her) and is losing some smaller body feathers. She is eating and drinking, even trying to fly (she is still learning) but has been a bit sleepier since the ordeal. Is there a chance she needs an extra boost or something? She wont take fresh fruit or veg at the moment as she's been raised on an all seed diet. I have some harrisons arriving tomorrow that I had to preorder. I went for the one you are meant to give weaning and sick parrots already in the hope she would benefit from it.
Our male was a little scrawny when we bought him as well and doesn't take fresh food but has still bulked up fine in the last 6-7weeks with TLC, cuttlefish bone and on economy brand 'teil food. We were just worried she was even smaller and the strain of growing feathers etc.
