Sorry, i cant get a photo, but you can find one at petco.com under parakeet food. Also if you have any recommendations for other foods, please say so. Im getting my :budgie: in about a month, so i have time.

Bad, don't do it. Don't buy ANY food from pet stores. Your budgie will only pick out the seeds and everything else will go to waste. All pet store brands are pretty much of mediocre or low quality for the price you're paying.

1. Buy either Harrison's or Roudybush pellets online, very cheap by the pound at www.mysafebirdstore.com

2. Buy bulk bird seed and soak them overnight and feed when they're starting to sprout. Look up bird seed sprouting on google.

3. Lots of different types of veggies weaved through the bars of the cage, or blended in a food processor with pasta, etc to make a mash.

4. Look into 'bird bread' recipes on google. It's pretty much a loaf you can bake with pellets, various flours and blended veggies. Super easy and an excellent way to get loads of nutrients in your bird.

I wouldn't say all pet food from petstores is bad. The brand I have I got from petco but after browsing on the mysafebirdstore.com site I've seen it being sold there as well. Now granted it's not harrisons but I think its still good quality bird food.

Gotta agree with ya on that one. As long as the ingredients are checked thoroughly and there's no "crap" in it, I'm pretty darn sure it won't hurt.

I also advocate sprouting seeds.
I do it for my budgie and he loves them!
Loves sprouts even more than he does dry bird seed now.
He also is more active and playful now that he's eating sprouts.
I'm currently sprouting Versele-Laga seeds. They're not the best because the seed mix has little egg food crumbles in it as well. So when I soak the seeds I gotta let the crumbles get soggy and then manually rinse the seeds VERY VERY thoroughly in a fine sieve so that all the egg food disintegrates and washes out of the soaked seeds. It's annoying and a lot of extra work, so if you do intend on sprouting seeds, buy a seed mix that doesn't have any of that extra stuff in it (pellets, egg food crumbles etc.).
