I think it would be and the vet wants to avoid it if possible, me too tbh. Luckily she took 6g over the course of yesterday by herself which is a vast improvement but still not what she normally eats but today so far she has only had 2g Arrghhh!!
She seemed really keen this morning to come down to her food and was digging away in her bowl like a mad thing for about a minute. She has actually just come back down now and I've seen her picking the pellets up, biting them in half and then dropping them.
Its almost like she wants to eat now but theres something stopping her... maybe some sort of pain? infection etc? I don't know but I'll be speaking to vet again in the morning.

Oh and the colour of her urates has changed viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10233

Thanks, already seen that one ;)
I wish there was a simple answer for everything, some sites seem to suggest slightly yellow is ok, others liver damage , others suggest its to do with malnutrition or starvation.

Maybe it's just a bi-product of not eating very much. The vet would know best :-)

I think you may be right as she has eaten a little more yesterday, about 8g, less so today so far but quite a few of her urates are starting to look whiter again. Wont stop me quizzing the vet about it though lol.

I'm glad her urates are looking better. You have one hungry bird and one bird that won't eat! Hopefully they will both be back to normal soon!

Hahaa, what is normal? I've forgotton for sure.
I'm starting to feel like this is never going to end, I would much rather be posting about how Harlie has tamed down to much I can scratch her head and Ollie had learned another trick than all my stresses and worries about their poop abnormalities, food intake and their screams of pain :(

Thank you.
Harlie ended up eating about 7g overall yesterday, what makes me laugh is the harrisons bag says 'tiels should eat 2-5g, I usually dont pay atention to what the bags of food say apart from initially as guidence.
Harlie has always eaten 7-10g of the harrisons depending on what else she gets that day, excluding treats and teeny tiny bits of other stuff, she has always been a bit on the porky side as I cannot accurately monitor her weight so have been scared of underfeeding her.
I can see physically that she has lost weight but like I say I've always felt she was a bit chubby so maybe 7g is much nearer what she requires and she isn't actually undereating? although "for her" she is actually still undereating.

As for Harlies urates they are looking much much better today, only 2 poops she has done has the yellowish tinge, the rest are very white.

If she's always been bigger I wouldn't worry. My vet made a very interesting point that cockatiels weight is more about whats heavy or light for them. He has examined birds weighing 110g that weren't obese and birds of 95g that were obese. It just depends on how 'big' the bird is, it's more likely that Harlie is just a big girl rather than chubby so I wouldn't worry :-)

Glad she's eating better, it was probably just tummy acid due to the meds.
