We are getting a new couch on Friday. We were asked if we wanted a product called "Ultra Shield" applied to the fabric. It supposedly helps prevent staining. The lady sprayed it on a napkin and then poured water on the napkin, and the water ran right off without soaking in at all. I was quite impressed, and decided I wanted to get it applied to the couch.
I went back into the furniture store a week later to set up a pick up time, etc. I noticed that they had a poster on their wall that said "Teflon" with a little boy eating chocolate ice cream on a couch. It was for a fabric protection product. Was this the brand name or what? So, I asked the lady at the counter if the Ultra Shield had Teflon in it. She said she had no clue and that I should call the company. Today I called the company and asked if their product has Teflon in it. The man said "No, it does not." I asked, "Are you sure?" and he said "Yes, ma'am, I'm sure."
I wouldn't see why it would have Teflon in it, but I plan to have this couch for awhile and am hoping to get a bird sometime in the future. Do you think I should be worried? Even if it does have Teflon in it, it only is toxic when heated, correct? Seeing as how we're not going to be heating our couch, I don't think it would be toxic, but I really don't want to cause harm to any future bird.
Thanks!
