i keep him next to my bf amazon 'cause pepe practically falls off his perch to get cuddles from me. and i wondered the same thing Liz but since he startled me and i jumped i got scared. my husband did not tell me rudy was just inside the door from kitchen. i mostly worry about him getting my face, i'm not young and cute or anything but i kinda like it the way it is..lol. i was also looking at some too info and they described stretching up and strutting around and bowing as mating / flirting. i didn't know if he was showing me was a tough bird that owns that cage...i guess i just need to keep up flirting back and wait him out but i wish i could get my fear of being bit under control. ps my chihuahua bit me last week and my finger is still infected. :gray: :amazon: :cockatoo:

ljeanne - you've got it bad if even your chihuahua bit you.

I don't think I have ever been bitten by a dog. My dad's horse grabbed the back of my jacket and shook me. One cockatiel named Rosie that I nick named Pit Bull really liked to bite and rip out chunks. She was the only one to deliberatly come after me. I just kept my hands out of her reach when I played with the others.

Don't show fear. Don't react.

Hi Ijeanne I have 2toos .[I have posted about my rescue LS2 above] I like everything Marie said thats a good approach.I also tried the treat thing .Shes in the den with our grey .I would give him one .Then offer to her [ she ran away for a long time] She must have realized she was missing out .Then she wanted some.I would sit next to her .She started marching to my end of the cage [I was on the couch]And would stick her beak threw the bars.I took it as she wanted to bite me.One day I got brave and pet her head.[Thats what she had wanted] I just didnt know! Be brave take a chance when the time is right :D Whats different about 2s that I notice than my other birds. They are more excited to be out with me [once they trust you] than treats. Affection seems very important.Your poor plucking bird :( Does he like to chew ? I like these honey coated pinecones rolled in treats to chew on . I think his confidence needs to be built up somehow.[are you able to get him out at all?] I make a big deal how I talk to my birds lots of oohs and ahhs. Like Liz said her rescue took over a year to come around .Dont give up :D
