Meyers poop question

Postby cathyg18 » Wed May 09, 2012 10:23 am

Hi, first time poster here. I'm Cathy, and my feathered companions are Baby, 3
yr old Quaker, and Fred, 5 month old Meyers. Fred is just the sweetest bird
ever, and I'm confident he'll eventually win over his cantankerous big sister
Baby. They are currently co-existing just fine, but by no means are they
friends.

Anyway, my question is about poop. Baby has neat little curlicues, with dark
and light clearly distinguished. Fred's poop is explosive, messy, and lots of
it at a time. Lots of liquid along with lots of solid, with the solid not as
neatly color differentiated as Baby's.

They both eat pretty much the same diet, a variety of pellets, some seed in
foraging, cooked birdy mash in the morning, and a bit of birdy bread in the
afternoon with sprouts, fresh veggies, and fruit. Fred eats pretty much
anything put in front of him.

I don't know if a Meyers poop is naturally so different from a Quaker's poop, or
if this is something I should be concerned about. I've had him for about 2
months and did a well vet check when I first got him. I don't remember
specifically talking about poop with the vet at the time, and he did get a clean
bill of health.

Sorry for such a long post - I just wanted to get as much info out there as
might be relevant.

Thanks for the help!

Hi there!
I have a Meyer's who is approx 10 months old. Jojo's poop is just how you described your little one...changes during the day....sometimes quite liquid and sometimes more solid...either way he seems to enjoy using my husband as his bathroom!
