Parasites Outdoors

Postby Kiyomi1793 » Sun May 13, 2012 1:18 pm

Hello (:

I've been thinking of buying a flight harness for my 5 month old GCC. He loves sitting by the window and watching the birds fly by so I really want him to see what it's actually like to go outside! I'm sure he could use some vitamin D as well! The only reason I haven't yet bought a harness is my fear of him contracting parasites.I would try my best to not let him perch ANYWHERE other than on myself so he does not come into physical contact with anything bad... but are there any parasites that are airborne (If that's even possible..)?

Also if anyone has a short list of the pro's and con's of bringing your feathered friend outdoors,it'd be appreciated.

Thanks, guys!

I don't know of any parasites capable of flight. If there was we would have a problem. Bacteria and viruses are not parasites. There is a lot of benifits to letting your fid out for some fresh air. Just don't let them climb on the trees where wild birds hang out because you can get mites from it.
