Scared of orange?

Postby Zooey » Mon May 14, 2012 9:50 pm

I've noticed that Perry is scared of the color orange. I've had to get rid of toys because she flaps around so much whenever she sees it. Whenever she sees the extension cord she goes nuts and tries to get away from it as much as possible. All other colors are fine. Is this normal?

From my previous experience I found that some birds just don't like certain colors. My Furbie didn't like zebra print and purple, while my friend's parrot hates the color red. I guess it just depends on the bird, but if the color of his toy scares him I would switch it out for another toy that he isn't afraid of. :-) good luck!

Haha, yeah! My Scrubby is afraid of the color black sometimes. The cover for her cage is black, and she doesn't seem to mind that, but other times it will make her uncomfortable.

I bought her a toy with black feathers on it, and she was afraid of it. She's never been afraid of a toy before and she's had a number of toys with feathers on them. If I tried to get her anywhere near it, she would back away. I thought it might look like a predatory bird to her, so maybe that's why she was afraid. She had the same reaction though after I set down a black hat near her.

*shrug* She may have assumed it was a predatory hat, maybe...
