I use cast iron instead, it makes a huge difference compared to non-stick materials, almost everything turn out better!

Are they easy to keep clean? I always seem to end up with food completely stuck to everything whatever pans I use lol. Currently using stainless and they are an expensive nightmare.

Yes, its super easy to keep them clean, AS LONG AS you clean them immediatly after cooking, when they are still warm. You cant leave cleaning for later or tomorrow, as it will result in the pan rusting. Also, you only clean with water, NEVER soap, that destroys the fat layer in the pan!

Also they are great to cook in, food doesnt get stuck at all, especially when youve got the pan "started", the cast iron pans need a little time to get into gear, the fat needs to go into the pan.

I can really reccommend you to try buying a cast iron pan, they are really really good for cooking, you will definatly see a difference. The only downside with them are that they are very heavy ^^.

Cast iron pans are the best cookware you can buy, imo. They are really heavy (don't drop them on your toe, ouch!) and kind of expensive, but if you take care of them properly, they literally last a lifetime. :) My grandma just gave us some cast iron pans she's had since she got married 45 years ago and they are in excellent condition. Once they are seasoned, cleanup is a breeze. Everything comes out tasting better than on regular pans -- from steaks to stir fry to pancakes.

Brilliant thanks everyone. Was always a bit worried about them as I don't like cooking with oil all the time but I'll maybe get one to start off with and see how it goes.

Hahaa, yes true butter is just as good, if not better to cook with, I just try to limit it as I'm getting a little on the large side and although good for you in moderation it is very high in calories, I'll give it a go anyhow :)
