I have a 9-yr old red-lord Amazon (Caige). He lost his voice 2 weeks ago. About the same time, my sister brought home an interesting alarm which produced sharp noice (including bird's voice). I am not sure if Caige was scared by this. Apart from this, Caige seemed to have normal behaviour and diet. I can't think of other factors that would cause him losing his voice !
as in completely mute or just not talking? 2 weeks without talking could be pretty normal, not all birds talk all the time or it could be a sign of illness. 2 weeks without making any noise at all could be a sign of illness so get him vet checked or it could be stress in which case you need to deal with the cause of his stress immediately.
Take him to the alarm and show him how it works. Let him kick it around a little so he knows it is not alive. If he does not recover from his silence take him to the vet. There could be an infection in the throught causing irritation.
